BOWIING.
GISBORNE CLUB. A meeting of the Gisborne Bowling Club's committee was held last night,Mr W. Pettie presiding. Messrs^ F. T. Morgan, B: Taylor, A. Saunders, and J. Qosnell were ejected members. . ' The question of the corn-petition for the Burton 'trophy was-, considered, the chairman: reporting; that he had conversed with' several Haw fee's Bay bowlers on the subject, ahd they were of opinion that a competition between Hawke's Bay and Poverty Bay should be inaugurated. — After discussion, the fqllow'ing resolution was carried: "That, a tournament, consisting of two* rinks from each club in the Hawke's Bay and Poverty Bay districts, be held on Easter | Saturday ahd Monday (March 26 and 28), to compete for the Burton' trophy, and entries for which -vvill close on the .previous Saturday, March 19t1i." * i The Chairman also gave a report oh [the bowlers' conference, -held at Wellington during the recent tournament, particularly in regard to the open-door system. . .. ■ The rule governing the hour at Avhich 1 the "star" matches should commence .was cancelled; and the matter was left in the hands of the Match ( Committee to arrange.
