SUPERANNUATION.
(Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, ' this day. Important business was dealt with by the Public Servico Superannuation Board at its mooting for the current quarter. The Hon. D. Buddo (Minister of Internal Affairs) presided. The various committees for the ensuing year verc sot up, m accordance with the regulations, as follows : A committee consisting of Messrs Poynton and Richardson, and Colonel Collins, to draft the annual report, and a committee consisting of Messrs Allport/ Kensington, and Huggins to report on all claims for retiring allowances, refunds, etc., which are to be considered by the board at future meetings. Among the matters , dealt with by the board were a number of applications to count previous service where breaks m such service had occurred, and some applications to become Contibutors from those who had previously neglected to join. The amalgamation of the police provident fund with the public service superannuation fund was discussed, and the secretary was instructed to take all necessary steps, especially as regards the election "of a member of the board to represent the -police fund. The secretary reported that the amount standing to the credit of the fund on December 31st was £148*540 9s sd. of retaining allowances and refunds made to those leaving the service were presented to the board and approved as follows: Under section 35 (age) C, seven allowances amounting to ±5627 18s 4d per annum; under section 36 (medically unfit), four allowances, amounting to £273 2s lOd per annum; under section 42 (death), to four widows and three children, totalling £111 per' annum ; two refunds of contributions to the legal representatives, amounting to £30 lls 3d ; under section 32,' F 'balance , of compensation and contributions to widow of pensioner), £339 Is 9d. and under section 41 (refunds of contributions on- leaving' the service) £105, amounting to £986 15s 3d. CHRISTCHURCH, last night, At a meeting of tho Christchurch centre of ; the St. John Ambulance Association a motion was agreed to tho effect that a conference of representatives of various centres bo held m March for the purpose of discussing the generalisation of the , work of the Association throughout the Dominion. Christchurch was suggested as a, place of meeting.' The conference further resolved that if any scheme of ambulance training m schools is proposed the Government be requested to place such instruction, under the jurisdiction of the' St. John Ambulance Association, the Government to subsidise any such scheme.
