TRAFFIC ON COUNTRY ROADS.
BROAD TYRE BY-LAWS. Late yesterday afternoon at the Cook County Council meeting,- Cr White, introduced tho question of imposing ythe broad-tyre by-law, to take the heavy traffic off the county roads. > He suggested, hmvover, tltitt ft notice shotild be inserted m tho press, Intimating that heavy traffic be suspi'nd&b Ho suggested that after duo ' notice the difference made , between-' < spting aiid - nonspring vehicles bo abolished, tie .also urged that tho broad-tyfe -.by-law should bo enforced on April 15, instead of May 15. Tho Chairman said legislat'oit Would be required to enforce it caHter than May. . Cr White •' rhdvttd that action should bo takfett. At once to prohibit -. heavy, traffic, and to increase the width of tyres m certain instances. In th© absence of a seconder, the motion lapsed. , Cr White then moved that all heavy traffic be suspended during May, Jlirle, July, Auguat, and that ia committee .be set up th go into the by-laAya.^-The motion was tiari'icd. A commitbeo of the whole- CouUctl Avas appointed to go into the matter. ' .
