Holden, and A. F. Matthews. . CORRESPONDENCE. Mr. M.. H. fitrachan, • Waimata, wrote asking; the Council to survey two deviations of the county road through his property, and to close and transfer the old roads'. On three occasions he had al-j lowed considerable areas to be taken for new roads' without any charge.' — 'Referred to "the "Engineer, with instructions to act'. ' .-,.-,' Mr R. Williamson, Te Ai-ai, wrote drawing attention to Mie surface' water that collects and becomes stagnant at they conier of Muriwai and Arai Valley roads, alongside his house and shop. — Referred 1 to Singinecr, with instructions to have matter: remedied. . ■ . ■ 'Mr; H. R.^Shariks, Waiftgake, on behalf of Waihgake settlers, drew the Council's attention: to the state of . the ford "immediately abdve the Wairigake store, which they considered had been rendered dangerous by the accumulation of boulders. — Engineer 'reported }t had been -attended to. Mr W. J. T. Hicks, Tolaga Bay, wrote undertaking to do work on Paremata road for £10. — Authorised.. Mr J. E. The Gisborne Borough Council wrote demanding £47 ss, the county's share of expenses incurred in the Gisborne licensing election. — Payment authorised. Th© Clifton County Council circularised the Council respecting differential rating over special fating districts. — No action taken. ■ Mr Jas. B. Adaraa, Highlands Apiary, Whaiaupoko, wrote applying for a refund of £5 expended on Richard's Court (Sievwriffht's lane).— Sam of £2 previously agreed to, granted. \ Mr A. R. Watson/ Waimata, drew the Council's attention to the state of the erbssing leading to his and an adjoining property.— -The waiter waited^ upon the Owan-cil and explained the position.— The Engineer said that Mr Watson had offered the use of horses and sdoop.
