The sea was smooth at nearly all stations to-day, the exceptions being Cap© Campbell, Farewell Spit, ant| Timaru, where it was moderate. It was not rough anywhere along either coast. WEATHER FORECAST. The Rev. D. C. Bates forecasted today ; "Expect easterly increasing strong winds to gale after 24 hours ; glass lull ; tides very high; sen heaivy ; lain probably hea-vy; warn shipping passing northwards of cyclonic movement."
