OCEAN-GOING STEAMERS.
Star of / Scotland, from New York (March 27); due at Auckland about May 24. The Union. Co.'s Mbnowai arrived from South early this morning, and left later for Auckland. Messrs Huddart, Parker and Co. 'a Victoria arrived from Sydney and Auckland this afternoon, and proceeds South this evening. The Tuateit leaves the wharf with outward passengers at 7 p.m. The Union Co.'s Squall, on her way from Auckland to Gisborne via Tolag.i, arrived at the latter bay this morning, and left later. She is due here this evening, and) will return to Auckland direct to-morrow. The Union Co.'s Flora left" Aucklahd at 8 last evening for Coast ports, Gisr borne, and South* , The Union Oo,'s Talune arrive* from 1 South early on Saturday morning. Nelson Bros.' new tug steamer Hipi is expected to arrive from Auckland oa Thursday. A wire was received from 1 Mercury" Bay, stating that she had left there yesterday afternoon. _ The Hipi, which was built, by Mr Bailey,* jiinV, of Auckland, is a well-constructed i wood*en tug, possessing powerful engines, and will be used to tow the lighters from the wharf to the steamers loading m the bay. The Government steamer Tutanekai arrived from Wellington yesterday afternoon, and left at midnight for W^iipirp, where she lands the Hon. A. T. Ngata. She then proceeds to the East Cape, where the work of -repairing the broken cable will be commenced. The Union Go.'* Maitai will make a trip to Auckland and return to Dunedin instead of the Talune, as shown m the May time-table. .The Maitai will leave Dunedin on Sunday, May 30, and "mil probably be a day late m arriving' at Auckland; The Monowai, on arrival at Dtinedln 1 on Friday, 28th May, will withdraw for overhaul, and take up heT time-table again on Friday, June 11th.
