Tlie late Rt. 1 Rev. J. M. T^ng, D.D., L.L.D.. Vice-Chtincellor and Principal of the Aberdeen University since 1900, avhs born m 1834, and is the second) son of Rev. Gavin Lang, of Nielskirid. He was a deputy fo Australia iri 1837, and Avas appointed Moderator .of tho Church of Scotland m 1893, Chairman of Commission on Religious Condition of People 1890-96, President of Council of Reformed Churches (Presbyterian) 1896, Baird Lecturer 1900-1. Ho is the author of a riuriiber of well-knoAvn publications.
