.The New Zealand Loan and- Mercantile Agency .Company, Ltd., report on last Thursday's stock sale : — The attend, ance was rather less tl^an the average, 'and the yardings Were not heavy. However, there appeared, to be a little better demand: for all lines of useful stock, both sheep and cattle;, arid' taken all round 1 the sale can be regarded aa being distinctly better than recent sales. Bheep: In t-his depaTtinent, although our entry was anial?, we had the Sure of quitting, every tiling at auction. Our entry was 1285. We sold fat ewes at 7s 6d to Bs, eull ewes '3s 9d, 2-tooth ewes 9s 6d. Lambs formed' a*.considerable portion -of our entry ; cuils made from 2s 4d *io fik fid 1 , whilst better lines made from;ss 9d to 6s 6d. It requires fairly good lambs to reach this latter figure. Wethers : were a small, entry, small 3-tdb.t'ha .making ■6s - x lOd, whilst average lines, of 2 and ; 4-tcJbth wethers were worth abo»_,t 9s. Cattle Our entry comprised Y3Q5> of -Syhich wc sold 141 under foil* competition. The rferti&ihdor consisted niainly-.of grown bullocks,' for which tUfte appeared rio demand, or at any ratej sellers and buyers' ideas of value did not at all coincide. ...Steers
