THE ESCAPED PRISONER.
The prisoner, John .Wilson, who escaped from the local gaol this mdrning, wiis recaptured this a Her noon by Serge Hutton, alter a short chaise. He watched the escapee for a time, and a i though be had hear^l that the police were, alter a man it never dawned on liim to acquaint the oliicers of the law of this individual. a paddock, and sat down by a building /in course of erection. The young lady ' luid htr suspicions aroused when she heard a man was "wanted" and she immediately obtained a trap and drove to the police station to inform Sergt. Hutton. The sergeant at once accompanied tlio young lady back to Kaiti. When near the new liouhe in question the sergeant observed the prisoner, and made towards him. Wilson, however, was not to be caught napping. Seeing the jwlice officer advancing in his direction he at once took to his heela, and ran through t-jic building, setting off across the paddock. Sergt. Hutton followed, but easily outran his man, and captured hint after a short struggle. At first Wilson show-ad fight, but apparently realising that discretion was lh© better part of valor he gave in to liis.* captor.
