m MELBOURNE, April 2. A farm laborer, Thomas Higgins, sustained fearful injuries at Pyramid Hill through falling in front of a spike roller Ajrhile he Avas driving the horaes attached to the implement. The uccident was caused by one of the horses becoming unmanageable, and bolting. Higgin* Aves dragged along for over a chain, and the 'spikes inflicted terrible Avtfunds in his body. Despite his awful injuries .and the loss of blood he sustained, Higgins maintained consciousness throughout. Ono of" the roller spikes Avas prevented from penetrating h-is clio«t in th-3 region of the heart by a sovereign which he had in his vest pocket. The coin Avas considerably bent by tho point of the snike. . "
