, LIABILITY OP THE OWNER. (Per Press Association.) , :NEW PLYMOUTH, this day. In the Magistrate's. Court yesterday, before Mr Pitzherbert, S.M., a farmer named John Wilkinspjrwas charged by the Stock pepartinei^wit'h having neglected to give notice to the Inspector of Stock that one of his cows was suffering : from a malignuixt growth cm of its jyes, defendant having tsuspected the cow to be so suffering. After hearing the jyidence of the prosecution, the information M T ao amended by the inclusion of tlie ' word "cancer,." The ovidenco disclosed Uiat milk from tho cow was not sent to the factory, but iised to feed calves. Defendant denied that. ho know the cow wa« li&oascd, .considering ' thei eye luid been injured, perhaps in the bush. Mr Fitxherbert,. in giving judgment, said no ioubt the cow was siiffering irom cancer.
