Haycock, aged/ 54 years, who was shot inn the thigh '"at Rewa on Friday last, while clay pigeon shooting with on© of his employes, died m Palmerston hospital this morning. y STRATFORD, last night. John Cleaver,, aged 51 years, was attempting to board a train m motion, when he slipped arid- was dragged for some distance, and was crushed between the p}atfoi*m and the carriage. • He was removed tp the hospital, suffering from internal injuries, the extent/of which has not yet been ascertained. WELLINGTON, last night. . ; An elderly woman, - named Kate Brown, who was before the. Court the other day apd was remanded m order that arrangements could be made for her admission to the Old People's Home, took a serious turn at the gaol on Saturday, and it was deemed advisable to remove' her to the hospital, where she died at an early hour this morning. Ther© are no suspicious circumstances. y<-.-... CHRISTCHURCH, this day. A man named. James J. Seiling, a fairmer, of Kaikoura, fell out of his trap while i driving ■ alorig Hundale road, and was dragged for half, a mile and killed. #•-. INVERCARGILL, this day. Chariest Dean, an old age jierisioner, who lived alone m a house at East Winton, . was burned . to death on Saturday night or -Sunday morning. . Early on Sunday morning it was noticed that Dean's house was a: smoking ruin,- and his body was ifound among the"' debris. Dean; who leaves no family, *was hus- | band of the notorious baby farmer, Minnie Dean, who was hanged years ago.
