NOTICE is hereby given that the Cook County Council proposes to apply to His Excellency the Governor-in-Coun-cil for an "Authorising Order" to construct a Public Tramway on the main road from the boundary of the Borough of Gisborne at Lytton road to Section 81, Block HI., Patutahi Survey District ; and also, with the consent of the Gisborne Boroutgh Council (now obtained), from the Lytton road, by way of the road through Wai-o-hi-Harore Block to the eastern end of Awapuni road. The length of tramway to be constructed is 13 miles or thereby. The guage is to be 2ft 6in. The motive power to be "Steam." It is proposed to carry road metal for the Gisborne Borough Council at a rate not exceeding 3s per yard. It is also proposed to carry all road metal from Patutalu Quarry that is required for the principal roads m Arai, Patutahi, and Gisborne Ridings. It is also proposed to carry goods and passfcigers at a rate to be hereafter fixed, with approved stopping-places for delivery en route. It is proposed to raise the money for construction by means of a Loan of £27.000. Tlie interest and sinking fund to be secured by a small special rate on the Arai, Patutahi, Hangaroa, Gisborne, Whataupoko, and the Wharekopae portion of Waikohu Ridings, but it. is proposed to aprdy the net revenue from the tramway for payment of the interest and sinking fund before proceeding to collect a special rate. The estimated deficiency is £300 per annum. Plans and cross-sections of tlie proposed tramway may be seen at the County Office, Lowe street, Gisborne, during office hours, daily during the four weeks ending 22nd September. 1908.
