My views generally 'on Municipal matters are strongly Progressive. The most important question at present before the Council is that of Sanitation, m which I take a very keen interest. I am earnestly' desirous of initiating; a Drainage system iii the more congested parts of the Borough, which may be extended to embrace' other portions as necessity arises. : ■•' The "Water Supply must be pushed to a successful ■completion, and those streets not, already reticulated must be provided for as speedily as possible. There is no doubt that our streets «nd roads generally are m a deplorable condition. Many are without, metal at all, and m many more the metal is worn out. The whole question resolves itself into tliat of obtaining a cheaper and more regular supply of "_; metal., I shall endeavor to develop '■ the sources of metal we already possess, and also to procure additional supplies. The number of street lamps should be considerably augmented. M I am. m favor of' the Municipal control of the Gas.works, and of bringing the Fire Boards' Act, into operation. I consider that the time lias arrived when Gisborne should have a continuous telephone service, m order to bring it m line with ..centres of equal importance. I am strongly of the opinion that provision requires 1 to/be made for cases of chronic disease,, such a.s cannot be dealt with "m our present Hospital, and also that the present accommodation at the Old Men's Home should be extended, so as to include hoth sexes. If you elect me, I shall -have a seat on the Harbor Board.
