Mi\ Fitzgerald attended, th\e meeting, and -addressed the miners,' advising them hot on any account to give way. , - . An Argus reporter interviewed the manager inV reference to the paragraph appearing in an evening paper, as; iollows: ''There- seems to be some possibility of ah early settlement of the dispute, as the company has' offered/ one of the men now on strike informs us (ia addition to the offers made after the close of the sitting ' of the Arbitration Court) to donate half of the £75 fine inflicted on the union." The managei gives the , statement that the company have offered to pay half the fine an em piratic denial. He does not know wher< it originated, but the : company is nc party to it ; and that the company i: prepared to take the dismissed men bad and to allow twenty minutes crib time Further than that they will not go." The union will hold a meeting on Moiv day morning at 10 o'clock, and until ther there can be no change in the position.
