He spoke also of, the seizure of opium and the unfailing conviction that followed, and compared this witli the difficulty of convicting .law -breakers m connection with liquor. He considered tliat the Chinamen on returning to the Flowery Land would describe Was the most shallow humbugs on earth Ihe same paper that reported the Chinese Sabbath-btreakers also had, he said, a paragraph- about child slavery.
