The .Right Hon. Evelyn Melbourne Ashley Was the fourth son of the seventh Earl of Shaftesbury.! He was twice married, m ,1866 and 1891, his first wife being a daughter of Sir WV Farquhar, and the second a daughter of the third Earl of .Enni<-killen. He was private.secretary to Lord Palmeiistbri _f rom 1858 to 1865; was Parliamentary secretary to the Board of Trade from 1880 to 1882, / and for three years thereafter was UnderSecretary of State for the Colonies. He wa 3 M.P. for Poole from 1874 to 1880, and for the Isle of Wight for the five years succeeding. He published a work entitled "Life of Lord PaMerston."
