RAILWAY CLASSIFICATION.

A JUNIOR'S TELEGRAM.

(Special to Herald.) DUNEDIN, this day. Telegrams have been received by several of the juniors of the first division of the railway service throughout the Dominion froni a junior in' the head office at . Wellington, strongly urging them to point out to the Prime Minister their disappointment at the prospect of 'the Railways Classification Bill being abandoned, and their indignation at the action of agitators who, the sender of the telegrams affirmed, represented simply a minority, and to urge that the Bill should be put through m its present form this session. Telegrams to this effect were received locally, and came under the notice of the Officers Institute, which held a meeting last evening, and passed a resolution strongly condemning the tactics of the said junior. A telegram was immediately forwarded to the Prime Minister, bringing the matter under his notice and again strongly maintaining that nothing but amended classification on the same lines as that ,of the Post and Telegraph Department would give satisfaction. The unanimous opinion of the members institute locally is that the wire sent from Wellington was an inspired one, and emanated from a soucce with purely selfish motives at the back of it. With reference to the wire received by the younger members of the first division of the railway service from a junior m Wellnigton stating that' the Minister had made certain concessions and urging them to wire to the Premier to put the Bill through m the present form, opinion is unanimous that it has been inspired by a high official with selfish motives.
