Sunday rest m Germany is to be enforced m future much more strictly than hitherto, m pursuance of the orders of the Minister of the Interior, who is determined that no labor, unless absolutely necessary, shall be done on the Sabbath day. The importation of owls to New Zealand to cope with tiie small bird pest is being hailed with acclamation by farmers. The Otago Farmers' Union on Friday passed a resolution commending the Acclimatisation Society for its action m the matter.
