Owing to the monetary stringency 10,000 cotton operatives m the New England States have been rendered work?less, Although twenty million dollars of gold lias reached New York from. abroad the currency stringency is still acute. Prer miums have advanced to 3| per cent. The Mint delivered one million freshly coined double eagles. The Treasury announces it will coin fifty-two million dollars m the next three months. ; ' ■ ' j
