From advices received; outside of Dunediri stocks are also low, everywhere. V Oamarij reports that the; stocks are so light, that the temporary fall in wheat cannot be permanent, and a« there is not supposed to be enougU wheat to keep the mills going until tht> new .wheat comes in prices will improve again for Certain. South Canterbury advises that the stocks are so low that the fall in. the Australian market cannot possibly affect our local market. Tim* aru reports to. the effect that the quantity of wlujat held is jso small that a recovery in' prices is certain. Apropos to the potato market, a wellknown Dunedin agent said to-day, "t,he recent rairts .in Australia are having a somewhat depressing effect on th© potato market. Of course while the drought existed holders did not care to part with their stocks, but now rain hair come they are offering at fully £1 a ton lower. The North Island is fully stocked at present, and a large amount of selling is being attempted; in fact, a good deal of trouble Js expected from those who nave bought at high prices and are trying to get out of taking delivery. Locall ,^, th e market is quiet,. and it is difficult to sell at £6 a ton to-day, while 1 deliveries are still coming forward.. What may be the outcome of this is hard to say, but, the question of ,high prices sems. to: be off : for at least three .weeks or a jnontV The good rain experienced about .Oamaru district yesterday is also going to work wonders, and this morning things were decidedly easier all •round-;-, in fact some lines of fodder have been sold fully 10s lower than has been ruling for Borne time. One line that seems to be very short is oatsheaf chaff, which, is in very small supply."
