STATE OF THE SEA.
Excepting for a heavy swell at Russell, the sea was smooth to moderate at all places to-day. It was smooth from Cape Maria to Oastlepoint on one side of the island (Tiritiri excepted) and to Cape Egmont on the other ; a few stations then reported moderate, and thence it was smooth to the Bluff.
