NEW ZEALAND'S "HISTORIC VICTORY." (Press Asan.* — By Telegraph— Copyright) .-•/.■' SYDNEY, Nov. 1. A triangular match, eight men aside, between Britain, New. .Zealand, and the Bathurst Civilian Rifle ' Club,' provided an exciting finish. The results were m doubt right up tp the last .shot. The final scores were~ :— New Zealand 751, Britain 750, Rifle Club 749. At 200 yards the New Zealanders were 12 points behind the Britishers and 8 points behind Bathurst. ,At 600 New .Zealand, topped the score with 256, Bathurst 253, and Britain 251. At the last range the New Zealanders shot splendidly. When the last man, Ayson, was, firing he had to make a magpie to tie and an inner to beat Britain, who led by ! a point. He brought up the inner disc amidst great applause and' excitement. Colonel Gordon, State Commandant, m congratulating the teams, said the match would go down as an historic struggle. He said it was proposed to open a shilling subscription for the purpose of securing a trophy for an Empire match to be com-, peted for annually. The public have a chance of contributing. During the match the light was bad and a fish-tail wind prevailed. Following are individual «cores of the New Zealanders m the match at Bathuist at 200 yds, 500 yds, and 600 yds : Aysotjt34: 31, 32 total 97; MasefieW', 31," 34,. 31— 96; Wil'kie, 30, 33, 32— 95; Perrin,^. 31, 27— 88; Cameron, 29, 30 33 -M#* Duncan. 28, 34, 33— 95; Hadfield, 33, 32, 29—94 ; Craw, 31, 31, 32-34 ; total, 751. Fulton, of the British team, put up the possible at 200 yds, both sightera also being bulls. B. Cutler, of Bathurst, made the possible at 500 yds.
