(Press Assn.' — By Telegraph — Copyright). MELBOURNE, October 27. It is believed that the true story regarding the running m the Caulfield Cup has nob yet been disclosed. It is stated that R. Cleland,, owner of Apologue, being upset at the result of the race, suggested to the V.A.T.C. committee to hold an enquiry. Tlie suggestion 4vas not received favorably, and Cleland then demanded an enquiry. The commitee, after consideration, replied that they would hold an enquiry if Cleland would pay all expenses of same. Cleland is now considering the commitee'a proposal. In any case, Coffee, who rode Apologue m the Caulfield Cup, is not likely to ride the New Zealander m the Melbourne Cup. May King pulled up slightly lame after winning the Moonee Valley Cup. Latest quotations for the Melbourne Cup are : 3to 1 against Apologue, 7to 1 Tartan, 8 to 1 Mountain King, 10 to 1 Mooltan. Poseidon, and Welcome Trist (12 to 1 wanted about the latter), 16 to 1 Spinaway, 20 to 1 Bendigo, Dyed Garments. N
