ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.
(Per Press Association.) * AUCKLAND; this day. A seven year old boy, the son of Dr. H. Cox, whilst riding a pony m a- paddock at Marigere, fell from the. saddle, his foot remaining m the stirrup. He was dragged on the ground and died soon after. Dr; Cox lost a younger son two years: ago through the lad falling from a vehicle. NELSON, last nigh*;. On Saturday afternoon an eight year old son of Constable Tonkin was drowned at the port. The boy "was seen playing on the beach near the wharves, and a little oyer an hour' later his body was found at high water ?mark. ill is supposed that the boy slipped or was blown from the boat landing "near whefe he was found. An additional distressing circumstance was that Constable Tonkin was informed a body had been foundi and it was only when he went to recover the same that he found.it was his own son. At an inquest the same evening a verdict of "found drowned" was returned. WELLINGTON, last sight. An inquest was ,held yesterday on -the body of .an illegitimate child of Aimy Priest. Detective Kemp said r that/ from information received he liad gone, to.-the Arcadia hotel on Friday, and found Amy Priest, a. housemaid,, m .bed, She said the child was born through the nf^fit ; tliat she lost consciousness at the time, and on recovering found the child was dead. Medical evidence showed that ithe child liad just comriienced . to breathe. Had the mother received proper attention no doubt the child's life would have been saved. Evidence was given by the girl's sister, and by her room-mate, neither of whom was aware of Amy Priest's condition. A verdict was returnedi that the child had breathed, but had died .during the process of birth. \
