In. the Assembly, the leader of the Opposition strongly protested against members of the Government taking Hansard reporters with them on 'tour. The Minister, m reply, complained of the systerhatic . misrepresentation of newspapers. Mr Kidston stated that the need for reliable reporting 1 was becoming very' urgent. They should have a Government newspaper. He had been very seriously considering the matter, and it was quite possible he would ask Parliament to approve of the cstablislunent of a daily paper. Amidst dissent, laughter, and interruptions, Mr Kidston went on to say its function would be "to report newsj and publish opinions only- as signed articles. Party references would be absolutely excluded from it.
