FOOTBALL.
(Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, hist night. The management committee of the New Zealand Rugby Union to-night decided to inform affiliated Unions that it is not illegal to pay referees for lons of time, but referees receiving payment "will thereafter be debarred from playing football. The committee refused a request- by a player, disqualified for life by the Taranaki Union, that the matter should be reconsidered.
