This lace was delayed for 'ten -minutes, owing to some misunderstanding as to the jockeys, one apparently being booked for two mounts, but th"? difficulty was got over,; and all the acceptors faced the .starter. . The horses moved off together, Taura taking the lead, with Neetorean rtext, Sarilla third, and Reservoir bringing up the rear. The chestnut,gelding kept the lead until: the* straight "Vas -entered, the order of the others slightly changing. After passing the bluegums the horses bunched together, but Taura was still in front, and looking as if he might maintain the lead. San Cruz and Ladylike came tup at a great pace, and the Stro-wan-Jewel mare jiist managed to get in front and: win by a neck. Hinetitamtf had come up strongly on the inside, being unable to get through. Sarilla finished fourth. Reservoir next, Nestorean and Hiki being in the rear. Time, 2.13. On tote, £1192. Divs., £4 6s and £1 2s. A protest lodged against Taura for alfcvred bumping of the third horse was dismissed after enquiry. .. *. . FIRST ; WELTER.
