(Special to Herald.) NAPIER, this day. Messrs Murray Roberts and Co. have received the following cable: — "London, October Ist. Compared with lhe closing rates of last London sales greasy merino has advanced 5 per cent., scoured merino (superior) advanced 10 per cent., scoured merino (medium) and scoured merino (faulty) and inferior advanced 10 to 15 per cent. The merino market is very strong. Crossbred fine- has advanced 5 per cent. Crossbred greasy coarse to medium par to 5 per cent decline. Slipe crossbreds have advanced 5 per cent. •
A sale of dairy cattle was held at the Matawhero saleyards yesterday by the N*.Z. Loan and Mercantile Agency Coy., Ltd. There was a good attendance of dairymen and all the yarding was cleared under the hammer with brisk competition. Prices for springing cows ranged from £5 to £8, cows m full milk' sold up to £10. Stoer calves sold at .30s, and. heifer calves, well grown, 32s 6d. A smaller lot brought 19s 6d.
