A return of travelling allowances drawn by each member of the Executive during the financial year ended March 31, 1907, and the amount charged by voucher for actual travelling expenses during the same period, was laid before Parliament by the Premier yesterday. UNIVERSITY FUNDS. The revenue derived by the Universities of the colony fromv their endowments during 1906 was as follows: , Auckland £524, Victoria College /£s4j "Canterbury College £8065, Otago £5903. . RIGHT OF PURCHASE. ; An interesting land return was presented to the House yesterday, on the motion of Mr Herries relative to the disposal of sections m the Waioeka, Waiawa, and Uratawa survey districts, Auckland, opened for selection , ill August. The total number of , applicants , for , all the : sections was 1000 on the cash system, on the occupation with -right of purchase system 930, on the lease m perpetuity I system' 69. In the Legislative Council the AttorneyGeneral moved the third reading of the | Pure Food Bill. •' 1 The Hon. T. Kelly said the giving of , power to inflict fines to the Governor-in* ' Council was a stretching of the powers ordinarily conferred. 'He hoped the regulations would be judiciously administered. The Hon. Gi Jones th/ought. the Legislature had done the very best.it could m the measure. He hoped that the Health Department would realise the seriousness of its 'position, and' he trusted that there would be nothing like' carelessness m the discharge of its functions. The Attorney-General, m reply, said that m framing .and administering the regulations the Government would cxciv cisc a special ctyre and caution, and they would have the' very best attention of the Executive. r The Bill was read » third time and passed. . SMALL BILLS, \ The Marine Insurance Bill was committed and reported with verbal amendments.
