TO-DAY'S PARLIAMENT.
(From Our Parliamentary Reporter.)
WELLINGTON, this day. The Postmaster-General, in reply to Mr Ngata's question regarding the need of better telegraphic communication with Gisborne, snys arrangements are now being made to fill up the gap of fifteen miles between Morere and Wharerata on the coach road, to give an alternative route to the present line, which follows near the coast over hilly country, somewhat exposed. The Motu line, an alternative route, also proposed, would not be of the same service.
In reply to Mr Ogata's application for a postal savings bank at Nuhaka, Sir J. Ward says every attention is being given to the matter. The difficulty lies in the local conditions. The postmaster will not do the work, but is willing to resign in favor ol a mo-e suitable appointee, but no one can be found at present. The question of a separate building at Nuhaka is being considered, also the advisability of extending the accommodation for the postmistress at Waipiro.
