The following inscription appears on the front fly-leaf of the handsome large Bible which the King lias presented to Bruton Church, Virginia, m connection with the celebration now taking place at Jamestown to commemorate the landing of the^ English colonists m 1607: — "This Bible is presented by j liis Majesty King Edward the Seventh^ King of Great Britain and Ireland and Emperor of India, to the Church of Bruton, Virginia, a shrine rich m venera*ble traditions of worship, in* solemn memories of patriots and statesmen, and m" historic witness tb the oneness of our peoples, i The King will ever hope and pray that the ties of kinship and of language and the common heritage of .ordered worship and of ennobling ideals may, through the saving faith of Our Lord and Redeemer Jesus Christ revealed m these sacred pages, ; continue to unite Great Britain and America m a beneficent fellowship for setting forward peace and goodwill among men. ■
