FRENCH PEASANTS GO TO LAW
OVER THEIR BARGAIN.
PARIS, March 19. The Court of the Haute Loire has before it a case brought by a peasant who claims £120 damages from another peasant for the non-fulfilment of a contract for the sale of his wife. The man who brought the action bargained to buy the wife of a neighbor for £12. Wheri the woman heard of the transaction she not only refused to leave her husbarid's house, but told the two men strongly what she thought of them, r The buyer was furious at not being ab.'e to obtain 'the execution Tof a contract duly drawn up and signed, and he determined to seek legal redress. It is stated that sales and purchases of wives have taken place m the district several times during recerit years.
