Tlie heavy rain last night made a mess of the course, and prevented fast times. The stewards this morning found that portions of the course were under water. The six furlong race, as a result, had to be run on the tan instead of on the six furlong course. There was a large attendance. The results were: — _ Ascot Vale Stakes : Mazaun 1, Peru 2, Scodio 3. Two others started. Peru led to the distance, and finished a short head behind the winner. Time, 1.27. Australian Cup : Realm 1, Booran 2, Mini 3. W. H. Smith, May King, Charmont, and Antonious Avere scratched. Booran led past the stand and along the riverside. At the back Pius .got tho lead, Booran being eight lengths away. Booran took tho lead at the home turn, and was first, into the straight, where Realm, ilira, and Proceedov all made a rush, there being a desperate finish. Realm won by half a neck, half a length separating second and third. Dyed Garments was fourth. Time, 4.8A March Steeplechase : Up-to-date, 12.0, 1; Abdullah, 11.3, 2; Tlie Barber, 11.0, 3. The other aturters. were Sultana, Warfield, Signet^ Marsupial, Mattow, and Dozer. Up-to-date led all the way, and won by five lengths. ■* Tlie betting was 3 to 1 the winner. Bourke Handicap : Istria, 8.0, 1 ; Scotland, 7.12, 2; Wander, 7.6, 3., Fifteen others started. The betting was 9to 1 Step Out, 10 to 1 Istria. Scotland led into the straight, bint Isfria shot out, and won by four lengths. Time, 1.28. Junior Handicap : Miss Malster, 8.2, 1; Orfano, 7.2, 2; Woorooma, 6.12, 3. Ten others started. Betting : 7to 2 the winner. Orfa.no led to within a few yards of the post. Miss Malster won by a head. Time, 1.16|. •NAPIER, last night.
