Tlie heavy rain last night made a mess of the course, and prevented fast times. The stewards this morning found that portions of the course were under water. The six furlong race, as a result, had to be run on the tan instead of on the six furlong course. There was a large attendance. The results were: — _ Ascot Vale Stakes : Mazaun 1, Peru 2, Scodio 3. Two others started. Peru led to the distance, and finished a short head behind the winner. Time, 1.27. Australian Cup : Realm 1, Booran 2, Mini 3. W. H. Smith, May King, Charmont, and Antonious Avere scratched. Booran led past the stand and along the riverside. At the back Pius .got tho lead, Booran being eight lengths away. Booran took tho lead at the home turn, and was first, into the straight, where Realm, ilira, and Proceedov all made a rush, there being a desperate finish. Realm won by half a neck, half a length separating second and third. Dyed Garments was fourth. Time, 4.8A March Steeplechase : Up-to-date, 12.0, 1; Abdullah, 11.3, 2; Tlie Barber, 11.0, 3.
