" • It appears that the alteration of one card m the valuation of match "'A' to-day is of a more serious nature than appeared at first blush. From what can be learned outside (the Council meet, m private) it appears that 6ome competitors- were becoming .suspicious of the manner m which the scores/ were being registered on afc least one target, and i£ was at the expense of their own shooting that they kept an eye on those of whom they had a suspicion. At the 600 yards one of the men upon- whom suspicion rested left the mound with his total at 33,. and both his card and blackboard showed this. Being challenged as. to. the correctness of these figures, the competitor, who hails from the South Island, admitted that the correct score wa s 27, and his score wa6 altered to that number. The register keeper, who also comes from the South admits the correctness of the score (27), and he initialled a card to that effect. There are two others implicated, the matter will b e discussed to-night by the Council. Ihe members of the "latter are reticent, but it is not improbable that those connected; with the matter will be disqualified by tlie Association. :
