A CURE FOR SEASICKNESS.
A German, Dr Eugen Wolf, has found a cure for seasickness, wliich will- be welcomed by those who dread a voyage because they are not "good sailors." The cure, says Cnambers' Journal, is very simple, us all the appliances necessary is a basfh of hot water at eignty degrees and a; couple of handkerchiefs. Whenever the traveller feels he is becoming giddy he must lie flat on his bacK on the cabin sofa or on a deck chair. The clothes are unbuttoned so that there is nothing to hinder birthing. Then tlie handkerchiefs are wrung out m the hot water- and bound round the forehead.
This bandage must be made very tight, which can be done by using a penholder, or something of the kind, as a lever when twisting it. -During the first minute 01 two the sensation is not particularly pleasant, but those who bear it are completely cured, and is surely sufficient rowaro. for any temporary inconvenience. When the bandage begins to get cold another must be put on and the process continued, each time with a. hotter bandage, if possible, until the patient is relieved of the squeamish feeling. This should be accomplished m about half an hour. In very obstinate cases.it may take an hour. While under treatment the patient must not eat, drink, or smoke. One of the symptoms of seasickness is excessive" thirst, which must not be assauged. Il the patient has v. craving for food ht ma v be given a little dry toast and weak tea.
Two hours after tlie cure the patient need not fear for a hearty meal, smoking, or drinking. Those who undergo this treatment at the beginning of a voyage are never troubled with seasickness, even when the sea runs high.
