ATTORNEY-GENERALSHIP.
DR. FINDLAY APPOINTED
(Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, last night. Dr. Findlay was to-night sworn m as Attorney-General m succession to the late Hon. A. Pitt.
Dr Findlay was swoin m to-night at 6.45 as a member of the Legislative Council, and as Attorney-General and Colonial Secretary. The position as a member of the Executive m the Legislative Council carries with it the leadership of that Chamber.
Sir Joseph Ward has undertaken the portfolio of Minister of Defence. To enable him to do this he lids resigned charge of the Department of Industries and Commerce, which has been allotted to Hon. J. McGowan.
(Special to Herald.) DUNEDIN, this day. Both papers warmly approve of Dr. Findlay's selection as Attorney-General. The Star expresses gratification that the Defence portfolio has again been placed m the hands of a member of the Lower House.
