ENGLAND AND GERMANY.

The Committee for the study of foreign muuicipal institutions entertained a party of German burgomasters at dinner m London. Lord Avebury presided. King Edward, m response to a telegram of greetings, promised to receive the burgonuisters on Friday. He hoped the visit would be iv every way pleasant and successful. Mr Haldaue. .speaking m German, described the Kaiser, who, besides being a great European, was a great man, and had a keen appreciation of peace, commerce, and education. The more Britain and Germany vcame together the better would be for both nations.
