SPANISH ROYAL WEDDING.
UNEXAMPLED SPLENDOUR. MADRID, March 5. A member of. Parliament who accompanied King Alfonso on his recent excursion to Monzon says that his Majesty expressed his determination to celebrate his marriage with a pomp and splendour unequalled at any previous royal wedding. The King has personally superintended the repairs to sixteen historic state coaches, which. h^ax.- l-jTK^ftQffrTTh' \l^d"T^ddTT^ , 'nTrormant. Thirty- four gorgeous- vehicles are now ready, and his Majesty hopes to increase the number to forty before the wedding day. This collection of Spanish gala carriages surpasses in magnificence and value those of any other Court. Since the reign of the first Spanish monarch each Sovereign has tried to eclipse his predecessor in luxury by building new and more gorgeous coaches. Some of these are priceless. One of them, the "concha" coach, is covered with tortoise-shell, and has an estimated value of £20,000. As the more important of the grandees possess antique family carriages which are considered equal to our English state coach, the wedding procession will, it is believed, be of unparallelled magnificence.
