Captain Edwin forecasted to-day : — Strong winds from between north-east, north, and west ; glass fall ; tides moderate ; sea heavy ; easterly swell.
East Cape reported : South light wind ; barometer 29.94; thermometer 55; fine; high tides ; moderate sea.
Light N.E. breezes prevailed between Cape Maria Van Dieman and Thames and from Nelson to Christchurch to-day; N.S.W. breezes and calms between Thames and Wellington, and N.E. moderate gales were experienced south of Christchurch. ' The weather was fine throughout the colony, except at Hokitika, where rain was experienced. Heavy skis were running nt Port Clialmers and Nuggets ; heavy swells at Gisborne, Kaikoura, Westport, and Timaru ; smooth to moderate elsewhere.
