THE SAMOAN ERUPTION.
Per Press Association. AUCKLAND, last night. Further particulars of the recent volcanic eruption m Savaii show that tlie residents at Sofalu were awakened by shocks of earthquake and reports like the firing of heavy guns. The whole place was lighted up, and a fresh crater had broken out. Flames Mere shooting up about 4000 ft at intervals of ten seconds, throwing out big -stones and lava. Thoifi was no damage to life or property.
