DUNEDIN. last night. The fire brigades' competition was continued to-day im excellent weather. Three '■vents were got off, but it will be late to-morrow before the competition is through. For Shand and Mason's shield, Dunedin is leading with 29 points, Timaru 27, and Masterton 24. The results were -. . Hose, hydrant, and union competition, for 5 men.— Dunedin City (Branchmau J. Williams, Fireman H. Tonkins, J. Conway, R. Oliver, and T. Blanchark), 60sec, Ist prize £50, 1 ; Greymouth (Foreman P. Diere, Firemen Kilpatrick Walton, Lockredge, and Fitaimmoiuls), 62seci, 2nd prize £25,, 2 ; Masterton (Captain Jenkins, Fireman E. Jenkins, Lieutenant Ewington, Firemen E. and B. Braggins), 63sec, 3rd prize £15, 3. Thames and Caversham tied for fourth place, Thames winning the run off, taking £12 ; Caversham fifth, £10.
Coupling practice, 2 men. — New Plymouth (Boon and Ford), 1; Dannevirke (Nuttal Brothers), 2; Thames (Gibbons and Alexander), 3; Timanii (Campbell and Hunt), 4; Napier (Gilberd and Willis), 5. The hose and hydrant competition for three men was not completed, 28 out of about 60 having run off. The leading teams so far are New Plymouth 43seq, Greymouth 44soc, Hawera 465 ec, Thames 48sec, Ciirtertoni 49sec.
