Tuesday's Wellington Post slates : The Rotomaliana arrived from Ly Melton this morning, having made a fast passage before tlie southerly gale. According to the engineer's log book, the order "Full speed ! ahead" was given at 6.36 last evening and "Stop" at 5.10 this morning. This indicates that she did the journey in lOhr 54miu, a time for passenger boats which has only been beaten by the Mararoa, which oh- the 23rd February, 1904, did the trip in lOhr 32min. The schooner Awanui (Captain Nicolas) arrived 1 from Tairua at 5 o'clock last evening. Leaving Tairua on Saturday,, last strong N.W. winds were experienced' across the Bay of Plenty. East Cape was roundled the following morning, £nd the schooner made Tolaga Bay the same evening. About 11,000ft Limber was discharged at Tolaga on Monday and Tuesday, and- after several attempts to sail tlie Awanui eventually cleared the bay at 4 o'clock yesterday morning.
