We understand that the Te Karaka Timber Company are about to tap extensive timber forests of rimu and matai at To Araroa, bringing the baulk timber by scoav to Gisborne. The secretary of the Poverty Bay Rugby Union has receiA-ed a telegram from the Hawke's Bay Union, asking for a postponement for a week of the match at Gisborne, fixed for September 3. The matter Avill be considered by the local Union. The schooner Awanui (Captain Nicolas) arrived 1 from Tairua this morning. The vessel left Tairua on Monday at 4.d0, and experienced a W.S.W. Avind. East Cape Avas rounded' on Tuesday e\-eiiing. Light variable winds prewiiled to port, Avhich Avas made at 8 a.m. The schooner Gisborne was sighted off the East Cape, and the Marore Avas seen last night. A heavy S.E. swell was experienced. The cargo consists of 5615 ft timber consigned to F. Stafford. 9251 ft to W .0. Skeet, 5333 ft County Council. 40.163 ft Evans, Nield and Co.. and 20,041 ft Clayton Bros.
