(Per Press Association.) INVEROARGILL, last night. The interprovincial match, Otago v. Southland, was won by the visitors, who put their best team m the field fore an 4 aft. Showera fell during the day, and made th© ground soft, but not sloppy, and the weather was fair, without wind during the game. The Otaco forwards played well together, and took possession of the ball ithree times out of four m the scrums notwithstanding that they played a wing forward, who was responsible for smothering the Southland backs. Stead was particularly well watched, and was severally handled, but played a groat saving game, Murphy's try being due to a. brilliant run by his captain. Dobson's two tries were well earned, and due to strong running. His play was much admired. Otago won by 9 points (three tries) to SoutWand's 8 (a goal and a try). The visitor's score would have been 11 points, but the kicker handled tho ball a second time, and tliis line point reduced their lend to a bare pomt. Mr B. GaJbraith was referee, but early m the game ricked a tendon of his leg /and had give way to Mr McGrath. Dobson scored two trie? for Otago m tho first .spell, Bennett securing the other m the second. Jenkins got Southland's try, which Reid converted from a difficult angle. '
