PARLIAMENTARY NOTES.
(From onr Parliamentary Reporter.) WELLINGTON, this day. At the instance of the Dunedin branch of the Pliarmacy Board, a deputation, consisting of tlve Wellington executive, together with Mr Arnold, had an interview with Dr Mason yesterday forenoon in regard to the Sale- of Poisons Act. After a long conversation, an agreement was come to by which it is possible a Bill will be presented to Parliament within a few days in such a form as is likely to be acceptable to both the Health Department and Pharmacy Board, and to | stand a fair chance of being passed into law. The adjustment arrived at has reference to the sale of strychnine or arsenic in bulk for sheep dip and other purposes of that kind, and to patent medicines containing poison, sold chiefly by country storekeepers. In the- Gaming and Lotteries Amendment Bill which the Minister of Justice is introducing, the Chinese game pakaipakoo is declared illegal. Fantan consultations, whether promoted in New Zealand or outside, are disallowed. The clause of the main Act indemnifying witnesses is repealed. Mr Laurenson's Public Service Board Bill was discliarged from the Order Paper, Mr Laurenson explaining it was on the same lines as the Bill introduced by Mr Herdman, which was ruled out of order. Tlie Land' Drainage Billwas committed. On the motion of Mr Massey the definition of a drain was amended to include a natural water-course 'through which water flows continuously or otherwise.
