The lamb market has been unfavorable, being affected by damaged carcases, but the downward movement is not likely to last. The average price to-day of Canterbury brand is 4gd per IS, brands other than Canterbury 4£d. The beef market continues dull. The average price to-day of hindquarters of New Zealand beef is 4d, fores 2£d. There has been no alteration 'm the butter market since last week. The cheese market is firm. The spot-de-mand is good. The average price to-day 'of finest Canadian is 53s per cwt. The hemp market has advanced, and is particularly active for future delivery. The ' price of New Zealand hemp, good, fair Wellington grade, on spot, to-day is £32 Ito £32 10s per ton. September to December shipments £32, January to March shipments £31 19s. The price of Manila liemp, fair current grade, on spot to-day is £35 per ton. The cocksfoot market is firm at prices ciibled last week."
