Doctors Lupponi and Mayzoni, the late Pope's medical attendants, publish a de-, fence-in-reply to newspaper charges, of incompetence. This shows that remarkable intriguing took place round Pope Leo's death-bed. Cardinal Rampolla objected to the publication of the true origin of the illness, though the doctors insisted m order to protect their reputations. They finally want the full history of the case .published. They gave sealed copies to Cardinal Rampolla and the Papal Major-Domo.
