The obelisk to be erected m Baring square, Ashburton, m memory of the troopers who fell m the South African campaign, is to be of granite, with bluestone pediment and a concrete foundation. Ib will stand about 20ft high, and the names of the fallen troopers will be inscribed on the granite. The estimated cost is £120.
