Two Nationalists of Dublin Corporation proposed and seconded an address to the King m connection with His Majesty's forthcoming visit. When the gallery was filled, the doors were closad. The mob determined to enter, smashed the doors. The police cleared the gallery and approached the hall.' The Lord Mayor states that^ he was unwilling to make the name of- Ireland offensive to the King, but there was not sufficient ground for the address. It was not a. question of paying deference .to the King, but- the competition of beggars lor titles. The voting of the address would imply censure on Ireland's Home Rule policy. The address was negatived by 43 to 7. . Several local bodies m Ireland have voted addresses.
